Keep in mind everyone what the doctor did here in this clip it's important what he did to river?

They had been flirty and had some great chemistry throughout the time we'd seen River, but it was so nice for once to have their timelines line up where they both knew they were in love and married to each other. It was such a different dynamic that we only saw in the date themed minisodes and didn't get again until Twelve's episode with her (once it finally clicked for her that the Doctor somehow got another regeneration and was with her the whole adventure). I really wish we got more of it, cuz it was so much fun and really cute to see them as actual spouses. Even if Alex couldn't have stayed for the rest of the season, maybe she could have had a couple more adventures, and then help him find his next companion.

One of the reasons why River got mad at him for healing her hand was because in this time this was considered the last regeneration of the Doctor (technically 12th) and he just basically used some of his last lifespan to heal her

When The 11th Doctor heals her wrist, I thought it was the sweetest gesture, cause he does love her he just won’t go and say so. Then River slaps him, because she was so unselfish when she gave him that energy he now uses to heal her wrist. She realized The Doctor was worth saving so when he heals her wrist with the regeneration energy SHE gave him, in her mind - it is like he is a saying “I am The Doctor, I will heal you and I don’t care if it costs me…” - that’s selflessness vs. unselfishness…and a sign that they loved each other.

1. Why does the doctor still have regeneration energy? 2. It isnt terribly impressive to use a little regen energy to fix a boo boo on a recipient who gave *all* of her future regens to revive the doctor.

This sort of friendship the Doctor had with Amy is very much like Rose's and that's why I think people always argue between the two as who is the best companion and while that's true, there is a very stark difference in the Doctor's relationships with either. Rose does helps him to love again, to care and she is so lovely and dear to him that he would "burn up a sun" just to say good bye. In those last moments where we know, as the audience, that love exists between the two and they don't have to say it, tells us how they feel, we know Rose and Ten love each other. Rose is after all the first face two of his regenerations saw first and that's why Rose is so special to him, and to us, so he would do anything to keep her but forces much stronger than they keep them apart. Also remember that Rose joins the Doctor at 19. Most likely she's still very young when they are forced apart. And then there's Amy, he's coming off having lost Donna, his best friend and he's so, so lonely that the first face he sees is of young Amelia Pond and he loves her immediately! But then he gets it all wrong and young Amelia is grown up and then he sees this Amy and he immediately falls for her - and by this I don't mean romantically - haven't you ever experienced meeting your kids/nieces/nephews and you just love them - that's what that is! And so he is not willing to lose her! "Come on POND!" Amy was 22 when she started traveling with the Doctor but she made the choice to leave him and that to me makes me wonder that if Rose had been given the chance to travel with him longer (Maybe 10-15 years more just like Amy) she would have grown up long enough to make the conscious choice to leave the Doctor and settle down. And I think that's where we differ in their stories, Rose never grew up and Amy did. If we look at Rose there are some of us that long for our younger days and love them and lived for those days and we wish we could go back all the time. And then we see Amy and we can also agree that some days it's ok to live your life, do the hard choices, grow up and know that there are better days ahead. The Fairytale ending was Rose's but Amy's was Real Life.

i just realized that besides rory, river and the doctor are amy's two best friends in the world. its kinda human normal when your two best friends marry each other but very awkward when one of them is your daughter and the other is an alien who you used to have a crush on.
